Around twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland were left experiencing outages on the start of the week after intense storm systems impacted the state, producing strong winds topping over 100 km/h.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact
Residents reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities verified that various areas across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Response teams were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 households in the southern state also faced electricity disruptions after Melbourne saw its wettest day in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received 598 requests for assistance across the region, primarily for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

During the peak on yesterday, more than 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with ongoing storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both regions.
Health Warning
Public health experts warned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after past events where similar conditions led to significant health impacts in the region.
